NTSE, KVPY & Olympiad Exams

NTSE (National Talent Search Examination) is one of the most prestigious exams held each year for the selection of meritorious students (Total-2000 in no.) studying in Class-X in the respective year, and awarding them financial assistance throughout their entire academic life in the form of a monthly scholarship. It comprises MCQ type written tests held in two stages – Stage-I (Conducted by the individual State/UT) & Stage-II (Conducted by NCERT) - each consisting two papers – Paper-I: MAT (Mental Ability Test) & Paper-II: SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) of 100 marks each.

KVPY (Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna)

KVPY (Kishor Vaigyanik Protsahan Yojna) is a highly prestigious scholarship program conducted every year by IISc, Bangalore under the aegis of DST-Govt. of India, to select talented youths having aptitude for research in basic sciences. Students studying science/stats/maths in Class XI (Stream SA), Class-XII (Stream SX) or first year under-graduation (Stream SB), and having secured minimum 75% (65% FOR SC/ST/PWD) marks in science & maths subjects in their Standard X-Board Examination [60% & 50% resp., in Standard XII-Board Examination in case of SB] are eligible for this scheme.

The exam is conducted in two phases - comprising a computer based aptitude test followed by an interview for the candidates successful in the former. The final merit list is based on the marks obtained in both these phases with the weightage of marks in the ratio of 75%:25% respectively. Successful candidates will be entitled to receive generous financial assistance in the form of monthly stipends and yearly contingency grants for the maximum of five years or till their pre- Ph.D. degree whichever ends earlier, subject to their continued excellent performance in their successive annual examinations. They will also get direct admission to some of the renowned institutes of our country for the pursual of their higher degrees in the prescribed fields of basic science & research.

Olympiads

Olympiads are school level competitive examinations conducted every year by various public/private/non-governmental agencies, aimed at inspiring and nurturing excellence in school kids in almost every subject they study - particularly Science, Mathematics, Astronomy, IT, General Knowledge, and English; in successive stages leading up to the international level exposure, recognition and monetary and other awards. Students studying in Class I to X can participate in these examinations through their schools that must be registered with the conducting agencies. The syllabus is based on the standard school level class wise curriculum taught throughout the country.
